Emergency Dentistry

If you need emergency dental care, we are here to help. We offer speedy, effective, and pain-free dental treatment when you need it.

Do I Need Emergency Dental Care?

Several dental problems can occur suddenly, with no warning, requiring immediate assistance. These include the following:

Damaged Dental Work

If a crown or filling falls off, it often exposes the sensitive root, causing severe pain and discomfort. This will require immediate attention to repair any damage and bring you relief from pain.

Damaged Tooth

At our office, we offer emergency dental treatment for cracked teeth, broken teeth, or having a tooth knocked out in sports play, a fall, or other impact. If you are suffering from any damaged tooth (or teeth) we are ready to get to work for you, on an emergency basis. With immediate treatment, it is often possible to save a tooth that could be lost, even replacing it in the mouth. Timing could not be more important in these cases, so call us for emergency treatment at once.

Gum Pain

Serious gum pain can leave you almost incapacitated, and could be a symptom of a very serious problem. It is critical that you see us right away. The reason for the pain could be associated with gum disease, or something stuck under your gum line – both of which should be addressed without delay.

Toothache

There are various reasons for severe tooth pain, including decay, an exposed root or nerve, or a cracked or broken tooth, filling, or crown. The pain renders you unable to work, sleep, or function normally. If you are suffering from severe tooth pain, it is an emergency, and we are here to help you get it resolved quickly and effectively.

What to Do If You Have a Dental Emergency

If you or a loved one has a dental emergency, you need to know exactly what to do. For example, if a tooth has been knocked out, it may be possible to save the tooth if you manage the situation correctly. Hold the tooth by the crown, and rinse the root if dirty. Do not scrub or remove tissue. Store it in a cup of milk, or place it back in the tooth socket until you arrive to see Dr. Barkhordar. For a chipped or broken tooth, rinse your mouth with water, and use a cold compress to numb the area and control swelling.

Other dental emergencies may not be as dramatic, but are equally painful. A severe toothache means something is very wrong. Make an emergency dental appointment, and get some relief by rinsing your mouth with warm water, or flossing to remove food lodged in the tooth. You may have a serious infection which must be handled immediately, and we are here to help.

Financing for Emergency Dental Procedures

To best help our patients, our office accepts emergency dental financing through CareCredit™. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that is designed for medical treatment purposes and is often used in medical emergencies. Its approval process usually only takes minutes. When you come in for emergency help, our office staff will assist in the application process if needed.

Need Emergency Dental Care

If you are in pain, it is important that you get relief, fast. Our team is available to address any dental emergency, and to evaluate your symptoms. If you are not suffering a true emergency, we will guide you so that you handle your problem correctly, and will make an appointment set to see you as soon as possible. We want our patients to know that we are ready to get to work when an emergency occurs. Keeping your teeth, mouth and gums healthy and free from pain is important to us.

“When I knocked my tooth out, I was terrified – but Dr. Barkhordar walked me through it. He told me exactly what to do to save my tooth, and he squeezed me in for an emergency appointment that very morning. Thanks to him, my tooth and my smile were saved.”
