Current Trends in Orthodontics
In recent years, there have been great advances within the field of Orthodontics. Patients today can resolve crooked teeth and jaw problems more quickly and effectively than ever before. With your teeth in perfect alignment, you will have a more beautiful smile and your overall dental health will be significantly improved. Straight teeth that are in perfect alignment function far better, are easier to keep clean and bright, and are far less prone to decay. A healthy smile, with perfect straight teeth, has the added advantage of boosting self-confidence.
Some of the most common orthodontic problems include overbite, underbite, or crossbite. Crowded teeth, gaps in teeth, and crooked teeth can all be resolved, faster and more efficiently than ever. Nothing is more rewarding for us than seeing our patients attain the smile of their dreams.
Types of Braces
Braces are the traditional method of treatment to correct many alignment problems. Some of the options available to you include:
Many of our patients choose metal braces, as these braces are very affordable. Metal braces are crafted from steel brackets that are bonded to specific teeth with a powerful adhesive product. The brackets anchor the wires and elastics. Colored elastics can be added for a pop of color or fashion statement, and young people appear to really enjoy choosing various colors of elastics bands as an enhancement.
Porcelain braces are far less obvious. They are crafted from composite materials that are specifically selected to match the natural color of your teeth, for a more discreet appearance. As with other types of braces, we will fully educate you on how to care for your porcelain braces so they maintain the correct color.
Many people want to use the Invisalign® system, as the aligners are virtually invisible. These aligners work for many types of alignment problems. You will be given a large set of aligners, specially crafted for you, that slowly shift your teeth into the correct position. Invisalign® aligners have many powerful advantages, including ease of use, and that they are almost impossible to see while you are wearing them.
Jaw and Bite Corrections: Other Objectives
Orthodontic treatments can correct issues such as jaw misalignments. These braces are placed to move the teeth in the jaw to assist in correcting a jaw problem. A lower jaw that is underdeveloped is often resolved with the use of one of these modern appliances. For some cases, it may be necessary to use several processes, and every person must be individually diagnosed. You are part of our team when you are wearing braces, and you will need to participate in your treatment by doing the following:
- Wear the appliance fitted to you as your dentist prescribes.
- If you feel any discomfort, come to our office so it can be corrected at once.
- Keep close track of your appliance and retainer so that they are not lost at school, work, or elsewhere. We advise that you keep your removable appliance in a case with your name and phone number clearly displayed, just in case.
Orthodontic treatment is a financial commitment, but the rewards are immeasurable. Thankfully, there are reasonable payment plans that make it possible for almost anyone to get treatment, and a smile they can be proud of. The outcome is increased self-confidence that can last a lifetime.
At Gardena Dental Care, we like to keep our patients motivated. We use high-tech photographic systems and other visual tools so you can see the progress of your treatment. The end result can be life-changing.
His staff is super friendly and he’s downtown in a great local. I’m a very happy patient, and love my new dentist. I highly recommend him!
