What is the Dental Bonding Process?
Patients receiving dental bonding should arrive to the dentist with freshly cleaned teeth. (If you are overdue for a dental cleaning, make sure the cleaning is done before your dental bonding procedure). The dentist then chooses the closest color to your natural teeth and creates the resin material that will be used for bonding.
Next, the surface of your tooth is roughened, and a special fluid is applied. Both help the resin material attach to the tooth. The resin material is then applied to your teeth, where the dentist molds it into the appropriate shape, using UVA light waves to harden the material in seconds.
Finally, the resin is trimmed and smoothed until it feels and looks just like your natural teeth.
Dental bonding is done right in the dentist office and can be completed in one visit, especially if only a few teeth are being restored.
