What Is Air Abrasion?
Air abrasion is another modern alternative to the old-fashioned dental drill. It can be used to remove small cavities, stains, and tooth discoloration. Air abrasion uses a stream of air mixed with particles like aluminum oxide to wear away decay, much like a mini-sandblaster.
A suction tube is used to remove the particles and decay while a rubber dental dam prevents them from touching the rest of your mouth. Unlike drilling, there is no pressure or vibration associated with air abrasion. Once the decay is removed, the cavity is filled as normal.
The need for anesthesia is also much reduced with air abrasion over using a drill.
What Are Invisalign® Clear Aligners?
These are a newer form of braces that are a removable (and most importantly, clear) alternative to metal or ceramic braces. They are custom-made retainers that fit over your teeth and slowly move them closer together, just like traditional braces.
Unlike traditional braces, however, you don’t need to come into the office every few weeks for adjusting; you just switch from one set of trays for another. You can even remove Invisalign® clear aligners for eating and drinking! This makes maintaining oral hygiene much easier than it is with metal braces.
